  • Born in March 1935 to a Jewish family in Prešov, Czechoslovakia, Sladek was 7 years old when life for Jews had come to a terrifying halt.

Young Oscar and his parents fled for their lives into the cold winter Tatras, in order to survive capture by the Nazi's and their collaborators.

Oscar “Osi” Sladek also is an IDF veteran, writer and internationally known educator who has shared his extraordinary story of survival, tragedy and hope with thousands of people.

  • In conjunction with Yad Vashem; Presenting the Shoah exhibition

The exhibition deals with major historical aspects of the Holocaust, beginning with Jewish life in pre-Holocaust Europe and ending with the liberation of Nazi concentration and extermination camps across the continent and the remarkable return to life of the survivors.

The Holocaust was an unprecedented genocide, total and systematic, perpetrated in Europe from 1933 to 1945, by Nazi Germany and its collaborators, with the aim of annihilating the Jewish people from the face of the Earth.

The panels feature explanatory texts, interspersed with quotes of the Jewish victims, survivors, Righteous Among the Nations and bystanders, as well as original photographs, art and documents.
